North Vancouver BC

A crucial piece of the North Shore’s waterfront public realm revitalization opened its doors in July 2019 and is already a celebrated destination for both North Vancouver and the entire region. Located on the site of the former Machine Shop associated with the Wallace Shipyards, the development includes a combination of hotel, retail, community and restaurants that surround a partially covered open space.

The space supports large concerts, major festivals and events, and overlap summer water play and winter ice skating programs under a retractable roof. Since its design inception, Hapa worked closely with DIALOG to create several concept studies and programming opportunities for a space of up to 5 to 6,000 people. In combination with the adjacent Shipbuilders Square, Spirit Trail, and Foot of Lonsdale Plaza at the Polygon Gallery, the North Vancouver waterfront will now be able to accommodate major events of up to 10,000 people.
