UBC Food and Beverage Innovation Centre

The UBC Food and Beverage Innovation Centre provides space for teaching, innovation, and hands-on learning in food technology. The Centre is intended as a hub for collaboration with Musqueam to teach students about the benefits of traditional foods and medicines as a way to encourage sustainable management of these plants into the future.
The landscape design incorporates native species that celebrate Musqueam culinary and medicinal heritage and advance UBC’s vision of a rewilded campus. Nurse logs are included to support biodiversity, while small boulders create a material connection the landscape beyond. All-season foliage softens the building’s presence and connects passersby to the stories of plants, food and culture unfolding inside.
