Hapa Collaborative was the landscape architect for this inventively zoned residential site at the corner of Agronomy Road and Wesbrook Mall.

Abutting a significant grove of native fir and cedar trees, the site planning responds to the 80-foot high coniferous backdrop with a simple urban planting scheme that balances on the edge between indigenous forest and residential garden. Working with the architect and civil engineer, Hapa developed a strong street-oriented garden edge on Agronomy, one of the busiest walking routes on campus, and a reconfigured mews east of the site. Viewing portals, gates and trellises along with strong plant massing contribute to the pedestrian oriented texture and character of the street. A signature bonsai tree is framed in a circular view gate, celebrating the name of the development and west coast inspired landscape themes.
