In 2013, Hapa Collaborative was retained with Urban Forum Associates to engage the community around Edgemont Village to chart the future for this vital commercial and community hub. During the first stage of the work, Hapa, UFA and District of North Vancouver staff held a series of public workshops, during which we facililated, listened, sketched, and took notes based on participant input. From this process, a Foundation Report was produced, summarizing the discussions and establishing a set of guiding principles for future development.
The second stage of the project is now underway; Hapa and UFA are drafting design guidelines, which will include precedent research and preparation of text and graphics. The resulting guidelines document, based firmly on a meaningful public process, will guide development and public realm improvements in the Village for years to come.
